We are an award winning community radio station owned by musicians and based in Edinburgh. We designed a 5* APP and are now also on Edinburgh DAB. Established in July 2020 when we recognised a need for a station that was truly local, with the intention of supporting our communities with live interactive radio shows but also providing affordable and in some cases free:
Music lessons
Access to Free community events
Support to unsigned musicians and Scottish music.
Please check our website, see what we do and follow us on all socials.
Kirsty Baird BEM started Chief radio when her band Hanley and the Baird got to No. 27 in the UK Download chart with no commercial airplay. We identified a need for a more level playing field.
However it is our deep rooted connections with community that is main focus of our work. We are a Community Interest Company, owned by Kirsty who is also the founder of Sing in the City Music, inclusivity, connections and friendship is at the heart of who we are.
To date we have raised £160,000 for charity.
in 2023 Kirsty is providing music sessions in homeless hostels, specialised schools, community centres and care homes to provide. We have been given funding by Creative Scotland to start our Remember When, Dementia choir this summer.
We have donated Christmas gifts to care homes, given to charities,
donated to food to food banks, created virtual parties when actual parties were not possible.
We provide assisted places in all our classes. Browse through our website to see more in particular our Community News page.
