Kirsty Baird BEM started Chief radio when her band Hanley and the Baird got to No. 27 in the UK Download chart with no commercial airplay. We identified a need for a more level playing field.
However it is our deep rooted connections with community that is main focus of our work. We are a Community Interest Company, owned by Kirsty who is also the founder of Sing in the City Music, inclusivity, connections and friendship is at the heart of who we are.
To date we have raised £160,000 for charity.
in 2023 Kirsty is going into homeless hostels, specialised schools, community centres and care homes to provide music sessions.
We have donated Christmas gifts to care homes
Donated to food to food banks.
Created virtual parties when actual parties were not possible.
